AMMONITE

A family of synthesizers that play themselves, in key

What they share

You choose the harmony

Pick a key and a chord progression. You never pick notes: each part chooses from the chord, in its own order and rhythm.

Everything stays in key

Every arp, bass line and pad follows the progression, so nothing can play a wrong note.

Patterns drift, the beat holds

Patterns of different lengths turn against each other and line up again, all on one clock, without ever losing the beat.

Colour follows pitch

Every note has its colour from the circle of fifths, so a chord has a look as well as a sound.

The instruments

Ammonite Desktop's stage: six channels as glowing shells, one inside the other

Ammonite Desktop

Windows · VST3 · CLAP · standalone

The idea without the hardware's limits: up to 16 channels, synthesized drums on the same clock as the harmony, effects, modulation and macros, and a stage where every channel is a glowing shell drawn from its own waveform.

The Ammonite-Seed screen playing

Ammonite-Seed

Hardware · Daisy Seed · VST3 / CLAP plugin

The original: a three-voice arpeggiator synthesizer in a small printed box, with 12 knobs and a round screen that draws the music. The same panel and screen also run as a VST3 / CLAP plugin for Windows.

Ammonite Mini's Conductor on a tablet: the circle of fifths in A minor

Ammonite Mini

Android tablet · version 0.1.0

Ammonite Desktop made lean for a tablet: a native app with no stage, all the music. It opens the same patches as Desktop.
